[夏日最後的玫瑰]
這是一首愛爾蘭詩人湯瑪士穆爾在1805年寫的詩，
由約翰史蒂芬遜譜曲，後來編入穆爾作品愛爾蘭旋律集。高昂清新的愛爾蘭民謠,緩緩細說著生命奮鬥的歷程。
這個曲子經Friedrich von Flotow的歌劇"瑪沙"於1847年在維也納首演後就非常流行。1844年巴雷舞劇"享利女士"還把它改編演出。當紅的英國小說電影哈利波特第一集也把它作為插曲，由未變聲的少男主唱。

left blooming alone; 夏日最後的玫瑰，入秋猶自紅，

殘花片片悲凋謝，新花望裡空，
To reflect back her blushes, or give sigh for sigh. 欲把嬌顏留住，長嘆誰與共。
I'll not leave thee, thou lone one to pine
on the stem; 何須留汝在枝頭，遺汝獨消瘦，
Since the lovely are sleeping, go sleep thou
with them. 既然好友盡長眠，去去相與守，
Thus kindly I scatter, thy leaves o'er
that bed, 我將掃棄成香塚，為汝殷勤覆，
Where thy mates of the garden, lie scentless
and dead. 從此芳菲難再復，惆悵使人愁！
So soon may I follow, when friendships decay,
面對隨花傷往事，往事成空虛，
And from love's shining circle, the gems
drop away,半生珍惜良友情，消失已無餘，
When true hearts lie withered, and fond ones
are flown, 更有那人間歡愛，飛去如飄絮，
Oh！who would inhabit, this bleak world alone.
